Expanded metal mesh can now be seen in the popular restaurant Big Boys Fine Burger Company in Folkestone, Kent, with the mesh being used to create a range of features.
The restaurant, run by Gareth and Guy Meurice, offers a selection of signature burgers in brioche buns, made with local beef, matured for 28 days. Gareth has a wealth of experience and a background in fine dining, having worked alongside top chefs Gordon Ramsay, Michael Caines and Marcus Wareing. Guy has a passion for designing, fabricating and selling industrial-style furniture, fittings and equipment, and was the mastermind behind the look and feel of the Big Boys Fine Burger Company Restaurant.
Guy wanted to give the restaurant an attractive, light feel and that’s where expanded metal came in. Working on the project himself, Guy chose to use the Steel Mesh 2073F to help bring his ideas to life.
Expanded metal products can be used to enhance a building’s interior and highlight features, while still being cost-effective. The wide range of expanded metal mesh products are used in kitchens, bars, cafes and restaurants for their practical and aesthetic qualities.
The versatility allows the mesh to be used for shopfitting and architectural applications, providing a controllable contour for surfaces such as ceilings, cladding and facades, as well as interior features such as internal wall displays, shelves and staircases.
Big Boys Burger Co used Steel Mesh 2073F to create shelving units and counters, as well as a range of other features in their restaurant. The Expanded Metal Company’s mesh products are available in a wide variety of materials, colours, patterns, finishes and textures, allowing Guy to choose the best mesh for the restaurant’s aesthetic.
While the boys’ restaurant is their main priority, Guy hopes to follow his passion and build his own business making industrial-style furniture.
