The Expanded Metal Company has been shortlisted in the Manufacturing Innovation category in this year’s Made In The North East Awards.
Hosted by Insider Media, the awards recognise and reward the high quality North East manufacturing sector and showcase the achievements of the region’s innovative and forward-thinking businesses.
The Manufacturing Innovation Award is awarded to a manufacturing company which has made a substantial impact on a regional/national/international level from an innovative product or process designed and manufactured in their region.
In 2018, The Expanded Metal Company won the Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m) award in the Made in the North East Awards.
Philip Astley, managing director at The Expanded Metal Company, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the Manufacturing Innovation award and in a challenging year for every business, it’s fantastic for the hard work of our staff to be recognised in this way.
“We were founded by the inventor and patentee of expanded metal, and have pioneered expanded metal products from our Hartlepool site since 1889.
“The Expanded Metal Company has never stopped evolving and we are committed to ongoing product development, working closely with the industry sectors we serve to solve new challenges and provide innovative solutions.
“We’re honoured to be a finalist in these prestigious awards and send our congratulations to all of the other companies which have been shortlisted.”
The 2020 awards dinner will take place at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on 25th March 2021 at which winners of the awards will be announced.
